Although I also like the music in the musical I thought I was ordering the actual play on a DVD, so I was disappointed to find out I hadn,t.

I've had a taped copy of "Purlie" for many years but I wanted it on DVD.
I love the show very much and thoroughly enjoy listening to it much more now that it's on DVD.
The music is very toe-tapping and exciting. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good listen.

A Great But Underrated Musical

This is wonderful, funky music you can sing along with. A positive message in an unforgettable musical production. I have it in 33 rpm, cassette tape, and now a cd.

It is a very good musical. Look forward to having the 1981 dvd of Purlie when it comes out.

I had seen the play on PBS several years ago and really enjoyed the music, so when I saw that this CD was available I purchased it. It is a wonderful CD and I enjoy listeneing to it.
